I have previously shared on the subject of locating people using online resources: I have written about find person’s street address free, how to find and use birthday databases and more. In this article my focus is on finding someone who is missing by using other alternatives other than the internet.
No one can deny the power of the internet especially in terms of the variety of ways you can use to find people for free. The only draw back is that it hasn’t yet penetrated the entire global population, which means about 60% are not exposed to the net. This shows that the internet cannot be used as the only source to find a missing person.
Let me walk you through some effective tips to help you find a missing person without using the internet.
• One of the first things to do is to report a missing person. In most places you can only report after 24 hours. I strongly advise that you take the time to report even if you feel like it’s not yet necessary.
• Have the person’s personal details ready: This includes the name, age, gender, height ,weight and everything else that can prove useful in identifying the person.
• Take note of the last place you saw the person. You will need to furnish the Police with this information.
• You have an option to hire a PI (Private Investigator). This is an advantage in that, he or she may have far reaching contacts than you or the Police. That is, most PIs have lots of contacts all over the world and this might help spread the word quicker.
• Put up some missing person posters in all key public areas. Some of the key areas include public library notice boards, malls, display centres etc.
• Develop some kind of a search campaign. You can contact a PR agency to help get some slots in mainstream media.
• Do not completely ignore the internet. As much as the web has limitation, it also does have some advantages – so do not ignore it entirely.
